| Good News for WellPath Coventry & Aetna Patients (October, 2011):
As of October 1st, 2011, ID Consultants has become a network participating provider for WellPath Coventry plans. Additionally, effective October 15th, 2011, ID Consultants is a participating provider for Aetna health plans. We encourage you to call our office to re-schedule your appointment if you have missed an appointment during the time our office was out of network.
If you have a scheduled appointment, please help us make your REGISTRATION process more efficient by completing your registration forms online.

Our ONLINE PATIENT ACCOUNT SERVICES offers you a more efficient means of communicating non-urgent issues with our office, which means that many tasks that used to be done with phone calls are now being replaced with secure messaging. Secure messaging has advantages over phone calls since you aren’t left “playing phone tag” with the clinician, and the clinician is able to retrieve and review your information before sending you back a prepared response to your message. Good news! Our secure ONLINE PATIENT SERVICES system is indeed operational! Some of the things you can do are:
To get started, call our office and request to receive an invitation to create your online account log-in. (If you’ve recently provided us with your email, you may have already received your invitation in your inbox.) Once you receive your invitation email from us, you must click on the link to activate your online account with us. Once completed, come back to this web site to click on the tab at the top right-hand corner (“ONLINE PATIENT SERVICES”). That’s it! You’ll then be ready to use our new secure messaging system! It’s simple to use and free! By the way, this is new to us so please be patient with us as our staff members get comfortable with some of the numerous features of this exciting innovation. Please note that our ONLINE PATIENT SERVICES system is reserved for the use of our patients only.

Our new HELPFUL RESOURCES page (found on the left side menu) offers the web addresses of many organizations that seek to assist with not only those without medical coverage but also those with coverage but need financial assistance with copays, prescriptions, and even other non-financial matters. Check it out.
To Our Referring Physicians (November, 2010): In our quest to better serve the needs of your patients, we’ve made changes to our appointment scheduling templates so that we can better accommodate your requests for patients with emergent or urgent medical conditions. We’ve already received compliments that it is much easier now for patients who have a true clinical need to be seen by one of our ID specialists on the next day or even on the same day! Dr. Michael K. Leonard Joins ID Consultants (August, 2010): ID Consultants welcomes Dr. Michael K. Leonard to our practice! Dr. Leonard comes to the practice with high credentials after an exhaustive search. Dr. Leonard received his medical degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine and comes to us from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He is accepting new patients and has privileges at Carolinas Healthcare as well as Presbyterian hospitals. ID Consultants Physician Dr. David Tanner Named a BEST DOCTOR in America (November, 2011): Dr. David Tanner was named a “Best Doctor” in America in the specialty of Infectious Diseases by the organization Best Doctors. The organization believes that doctors themselves have the insight into which of their peers are the “best” doctors in each specialty and therefore, are most qualified to nominate their peers. The organization states that its survey results are reliable and impartial because doctors do not pay to be included in the database, nor do they receive compensation to participate in the survey. Only five (5) percent of the doctors in any country are selected to become “Best Doctors.” Congratulations to Dr. Tanner on this remarkable honor!
ID Consultants Physician Dr. David Tanner Named a BEST DOCTOR in North Carolina (November, 2011; November 2010; and November, 2009):
Dr. David Tanner was included amongst the list of the state’s 2011 “best doctors” in the specialty of Infectious Diseases by the magazine Business NC. The statewide magazine published its list in November, 2011 after gathering information from polling physicians throughout the state.
Three ID Consultants Physicians Earn TOP DOCTORS designation AGAIN by Charlotte Magazine (July, 2011):
Charlotte Magazine’s 2011 poll of the area’s physicians shows that Dr. Philip Lackey, Dr. Lewis McCurdy, and Dr. David Tanner were selected as “Top Doctors” in the specialty of Infectious Diseases by their peers. The magazine released the findings in its July, 2011 edition. Congratulations to these doctors, who were also selected in 2010!
Dr. Philip Lackey, Dr. Joseph Lang, Dr. Lewis McCurdy, Dr. David Tanner, and Dr. Thomas Verville received the Top Doctors designation in 2009 by Charlotte Magazine. The survey posed the question to thousands of local physicians about which doctor would they call if a loved one needed medical care. Congratulations to these physicians on receiving this honor! Our Medical Practice |
| Our experienced team of practitioners specialize in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of illnesses and infections caused by bacterial and viral microorganisms. We are proud to offer our patients the convenience of a one-stop center where they can be seen by an ID physician, be administered intravenous medications (if ordered by the physician) at our on-site infusion suite, and patients can have their prescriptions filled by an on-staff registered pharmacist on their way out. Patients often find that our facility is easily accessible, feel more confident knowing that their infusions are physician-supervised, and enjoy the convenience of not having to switch to a different facility on the weekends simply because we are open seven days a week for their infusions.
Our physicians are affiliated with both Carolinas Healthcare System (Carolinas Medical Center hospitals) and Novant Health (Presbyterian hospitals), and we participate with most major insurance plans. In everything we do, we place a high value on integrity and dedicating ourselves to doing what’s best for each individual patient. |
